Human Resource Experts is seeking a full-time Special Education teacher for grades 6-8 at Jackson Preparatory & Early College, an Early College public school academy located on the campus of Jackson College in Jackson, Michigan.

That is the exciting new idea for education that is Jackson Preparatory & Early College, which opened in the fall of 2014 as a new public school academy. Students have the opportunity to earn their high school diploma and an associate degree – tuition FREE – at Jackson Preparatory & Early College! It is located on the campus of Jackson College, authorizing partner for the school.

Students can earn a valuable credential while saving money and getting a head start toward their career or further study with Jackson College and/or other 4-year institutions.

Our enrollment currently stands at 370 students and is projected to be near 450 students in the Fall of 2017!

 

Function:  To facilitate academic intervention and support through an inclusion model focused on college readiness. To utilize a blended learning approach through direct instructional looping and a one-to-one technology program. To provide services both in a resource room model and through push-in support.

Job Description:

 

Definition:

  • Provide direct instructional service to students based on IEP goals and core academic skills
  • Consult with other professionals and colleagues
  • Collaboratively plan, deliver, and evaluate instructional outcomes through a departmental structure
  • Conduct research needed to perform the essential functions of the position
  • Deliver direct instruction in a classroom with the support of a learning management system and digital tools
  • Monitor student progress toward college readiness in core academic areas

 

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for learning, developing, and implementing the special education frameworks designed by the district
  • Responsible for an instructional program and the utilization of teaching methods which consider the individual needs, interests, abilities, and maturity levels of the students
  • Responsible for the application and use of formative and summative assessments as required by federal, state, and district guidelines and regulations
  • Responsible for establishing positive relationships with students
  • Responsible for establishing positive and proactive relationships with parents, families, and colleagues.
  • Establishes professional conduct and practices, and demonstrates responsibility for the supervision of students at all times.
  • Responsible for meeting state reporting requirements for special education services and IEPs.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Candidates must hold a valid Michigan Provisional or Professional Educator Certificate.
