Position Details: 

The Pathfinder School is seeking an ELEMENTARY TEACHER (Fall 2018) who can work collaboratively in our independent environment while adhering to the high expectations of the program. Candidates must be creative lesson designers, experts in literacy, responsive to the needs of individual learners, and maintain a caring atmosphere by building positive relationships with students and families.

  • Respect for young children and a passion for their social, emotional, and intellectual development.
  • Prior classroom experience in direct instruction of lower elementary children (designing curriculum, planning lessons, preparing materials, differentiating instruction, assessment)
  • Demonstrated instructional expertise and leadership in literacy development and models of balanced literacy instruction and assessment.
  • Demonstrated instructional agility to develop children’s interests and skills in social development, critical thinking, creativity, literacy development, math, and social studies, and the arts.
  • Commitment to emergent curriculum, experiential methods, and integration of the outdoors.
  • Understanding of Multiple Intelligence Theory.
  • Commitment to the conflict resolution process as an instructional tool for children.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with teams to develop curriculum, deliver instruction, and advance programming.
  • Can embrace the distinction of independent schooling and operationalize the mission of The Pathfinder School.
  • Excellence in communication (verbal and written; formal and informal).
  • Respect for parenting and inherent partnership of school and home.
  • Experience in communicating with parents.  Expertise in child development that can be effectively applied in parent communication.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Education.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Successful clearance of FBI background checks, and iCHAT (State Police).
