MGLVA- High School At Risk Math Teacher

Position Details: 

The At-Risk Math Teacher works with “at-risk” students identified by their academic counselor to help remediate students who are behind in credits needed in order to graduate from high school before aging out.

·         Instructs identified credit deficient students in an accelerated program in an effort to assist students to graduate before aging out;

·         Collaborates with general education teachers as well as academic counselors to meet the goals of targeted graduation plans;

·         Provides individualized and small group instruction to promote success in earning credit;

·         Prepares appropriate documentation on interventions;

·         Monitors weekly progress in courses;

·         Communicates weekly with students to communicate progress.

·         Bachelor degree AND

·         Minimum one (1) year of classroom experience OR

·         Equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates and Licenses: Michigan state Math certification. Certified grades 7-12

• Meets state’s NCLB/ESCA’s Highly Qualified Teacher requirements

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
·        Strong written and verbal communication skills

·         Strong organizational skills, presentation skills, and the ability to work without direct supervision

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel); Web proficiency

·         Flexible schedule with ability to travel up to 10% of the time for meetings, etc.

·         Ability to pass required background check
