Position Details: 

3rd Grade Teacher - Full Time - Big Rock Elementary

2018 - 2019 School Year


  1. Valid State of Michigan Teaching Certificate for elementary self-contained classroom
  2. Highly Qualified requirements
  3. Preferred successful teaching experience in comparable district

Job Duties:

  1. Knowledge and understanding of elementary curriculum design and instructional strategies
  2. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of assessment procedures and learning and motivation theory
  3. Demonstrates knowledge of Individualized Reading Improvement Plans (IRIP)
  4. Understanding of implementing a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS)
  5. Demonstrates the ability to collaborate with teaching staff and with other stakeholders by communicating both verbally and written
  6. Willingness to participate in professional development in early literacy, Guided Reading, and math instruction
  7. Ability to work with at-risk and special education students
  8. Demonstrates effective classroom management skills
  9. Plan, organize, and provide instruction to students individually, in small groups, and in whole group settings
  10. Evaluate student progress and prepare reports that detail progress
  11. Maintain appropriate records and lesson plans
  12. Willingness to appropriately utilize, implement, and incorporate appropriate positive behavior support systems (PBIS)
  13. Possess a positive attitude, strong work ethic, be self-motivated, team-oriented and willing to work with students, parents, staff and community members

Salary: Wages and benefits in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between Chesaning Union School District and Chesaning Education Association MEA/NEA
