QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate’s degree or three years work experience in the field required, bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Ability to integrate information from multiple sources, reconcile data and problem solve to generate accurate data reports within reporting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Student Information Systems, word processing, database and spreadsheets, including troubleshooting.
  • Thorough knowledge of organizational policies, procedures and operations as well as student reporting mandates to exercise independent judgment.
  • Experience with MiStar, Michigan Student Data System (MSDS), School Infrastructure Database (SID), Educational Entity Master (EEM) preferred.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, mathematical, interpersonal, written and verbal skills necessary to work effectively with students, parents, staff, administration and the public.
  • Trustworthy, shows initiative, works independently while able to take direction, detail oriented and respectful of confidential information.
  • Demonstrated leadership of others in a customer service environment, experience in prioritizing multiple tasks for both yourself and others, and  commitment to continuous improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for management and technical support of the District SID and Student Data Warehouse.
  • Responsible for MSDS submissions. Supports the coordination and accurate submission of student data as required by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) working collaboratively with all school buildings, including data submission of all K-12 students, Special Education, Alternative Education, LEP, Early Childhood, school of choice, shared time, non-resident employee students and Section 25e funding reporting requirements.
  • Liaison for external student data system support via Oakland Schools and external student data integrations such as technology account IDs (Google, Apple, etc.), online textbook student resources, transportation routing, food service, etc.
  • Expert in creating and sharing reports from the District Student Information System and Student Data Warehouse for use by staff.
  • Provides guidance and recommendations for data integrations and process improvements.
  • Coordinates work of other staff involved with the District Student Information System, including the building secretaries, technology department staff, etc.
  • Coordinates accurate submissions of student data as required by the Office of Civil Rights and MDE for SID.
  • Provides guidance and support for District staff in data entry in MIStar as it relates to pupil accounting and state reporting.
  • Provides expertise and support for the master scheduling process.
  • Serves as primary contact with Oakland Schools and other districts for all pupil accounting and Systems Administration functions.
  • Maintains District information on EEM website as School Code Master, including Days/Clock Hour reporting to the state.
  • Responsible for obtaining and resolving conflicts regarding Unique Identification Codes (UID) numbers for all students.
  • Supports District staff and issues involving residency and guardianship.
  • Other duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION BENEFITS:   Pursuant to the Conditions of Employment for Unaffiliated Staff and commensurate with experience, the salary range for this position is $54,211 - $68,058.
