Position Details: 

The Board of Education for Manistique Area Schools is in search of a new superintendent. This is only the preliminary posting; a detailed profile of the candidate will be added at a later date. We encourage interested applicants to refrain from applying until the profile is posted.

Location – Manistique is a thriving, picturesque city located on the southern shores of Lake Michigan in Schoolcraft County, one of the largest counties geographically in Michigan, extending almost to Lake Superior on the north. Manistique offers a very attractive cost of living and maintains a variety of industries including paper-making, limestone mining, wood harvesting, in-town city businesses, and year-round tourism. Manistique offers a variety of seasonal activities including skiing, fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, biking, and many other recreational opportunities on land and water. 
District – Manistique Area School District encompasses most of Schoolcraft County including the City of Manistique and 6 townships. The total area of the district is 880 square miles. The district operates an elementary school, a middle-high school, and a 9-12 alternative school. The district employs a full time superintendent, full time principal per building, and a full time technology director. The district also maintains a partnership with business to offer a student-run coffee shop – The Grind – near the high school campus. The public and school library are maintained cooperatively with the district. The Administrative offices are located at 100 North Cedar Street, in the middle-high school building.
The Board is seeking a superintendent who is a strong, collaborative leader with a solid background in school finance and curriculum.
Salary and Contract Information
The Board will offer a competitive wage and benefit package that reflects the experience and education of the candidate chosen. A preliminary salary range of $110,000 to 125,000 has been established.
