Position Summary (See Job Description on Posting for Full Details):

Under the general direction of the Superintendent, the Executive Director of Finance and Operations is responsible for administering the fiscal and facility operations of the District. The Director of Finance and Operations directs:  1) financial planning/budgeting, 2) accounting, financial analysis and fiscal reporting, 3) payroll and employee benefit programs, 4) risk management and insurance, and 4) operation and maintenance of facilities.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS (If Applicable):

  • (REQUIRED) One of the following:
    1. Possession of Michigan School Business Officials Chief Financial Officer Certification.
    2. Qualify to apply for and obtain Michigan School Business Officials Chief Financial Officer Certification within three (3) months of appointment.
  • (DESIRED) Possession of a certified public accountant (CPA) license.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:

  • (REQUIRED) Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • (REQUIRED) Five (5) years or more business administrative experience with at least two (2) years in a public school setting.
  • (DESIRED) Possession of a Master’s degree in accounting, business administration or related field.
  • (DESIRED) One (1) year or more experience working with financial data, complex financial considerations, calculations and systems.
  • (DESIRED) One (1) year or more experience working with specialized financial accounting software systems.
  • (DESIRED) One (1) year or more experience working with facilities, including maintenance, liability, and daily operations.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Requires occasional prolonged and/or irregular hours.
  • Requires that the employee provide his or her own transportation for job-related travel.
  • Regular and predictable attendance at the workplace.
