Job Description


Position Opportunity:

Under the direction of the administrator, the Cybersecurity & Digital Forensics Instructor will provide a comprehensive and high quality program of study which prepares students for a career, future learning and leadership in Cybersecurity & Digital Forensics.



  • Possess or eligible for Career Technical Education Certification in Cybersecurity or related field.
  • Two years recent, relevant work experience in the career field.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Cybersecurity & Digital Forensics industry and all related job titles.
  • Demonstrated competence with verbal and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated competence with problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use basic computer technologies and software packages, including word processing, email and the ability to research information.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative setting with multiple colleagues and partners, including local school districts and professionals from the Insurance field.
  • Effective planning and organization skills.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and supervise all program-related student learning activities.
  • Provide high quality instruction in classroom and lab settings that helps students develop the skills, knowledge, and work habits required for employment and future learning in the Cybersecurity & Digital Forensics industry.
  • Develop high quality lessons and lab activities that provide the basis for rich student learning, using real life experiences, outside experts, and other industry resources whenever possible.
  • Manage classroom space to facilitate a high quality, safe learning environment, including ordering and managing supplies, organization and scheduling of job site off-campus experiences for students.
  • Establish high expectations and standards for student performance, behavior, and safety; communicate those standards to students and parents; and uphold those standards consistently.
  • Assess student progress frequently, communicate that progress regularly to the student and parents, and make instructional adjustments and/or provide interventions for students who are not meeting high standards.
  • Adjust curriculum and instruction based on developing technological innovations and employment market trends. Provide students with access to online learning resources.
  • Maintain records of student achievement and student growth.
  • Prepare students for certification and testing in Cybersecurity & Digital Forensics field certifications.
  • Participate in program-specific and WTC-wide marketing and recruitment activities.
  • Establish and maintain business partnerships for the purpose of providing work-based learning and continuous feedback for program improvements.
  • Coordinate and lead the Program Advisory Committee and facilitate regularly scheduled meetings.
  • Coordinate placement of students in work based learning experiences and follow up on their progress.
  • Implement WTC and district policies in budget development and other policies pertinent to student programs.
  • Assume other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful prior teaching experience.
  • Successful experience working with high school students.
  • Effective classroom management techniques.
  • Knowledge and implementation of best practices in curriculum development, teaching strategies and assessment.
  • Demonstrated experience in classroom lesson design.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity & Digital Forensics or related field preferred.
  • Michigan Secondary Teaching Certification.

Working Conditions:

  • Large classroom space with computer access.
  • Noise level in classroom moderately low.
