Position Details: 


1. Master’s Degree from an accredited educational institution;

2. Five years of successful classroom teaching experience;  

3. Certified and Highly Qualified to teach Elementary Language Arts K-8, (BX, BR, BT)

4. Extensive knowledge of strategies, techniques, and standards involved in reading and writing instruction in language arts and across disciplines.

5. Knowledge of current trends and research in data analysis, curriculum, instruction, assessment, equitable practices, building teacher capacity, and professional development.

6. Experience in providing professional development/coaching for teachers.

7. Ability to meaningfully infuse technology into instruction and professional development.

8. Demonstrated leadership qualities as a member of a school staff.

9. Ability to relate effectively with diverse populations including professional colleagues, staff, students, and parents both orally and in written form.  

10. Ability to employ business technology tools (e.g. E-mail, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.)



• Assists school staff in maintaining and establishing programs and providing materials to meet the literacy needs of all elementary school students. 

• Assist the Curriculum Director with the development and implementation of literacy instructional programs and materials across the elementary building.

• Assists the school with the implementation of the literacy standards, curriculum, and instruction across the disciplines.  

• Assists in planning and conducting professional development.  Provides regular assistance to classroom teachers in implementing curriculum, refining teaching strategies, implementing equitable practices, and adding new procedures to their teaching repertoire.

• Teaches demonstration lessons to display methods, techniques, and procedures.

• Assists schools, parents, and other community in understanding literacy instruction goals and how they are met.

• Attends regular meetings to collaborate with the county-wide Literacy Coach Team at the Macomb Intermediate School District.

• Analyzes data to determine student progress and achievement.

• Monitors collection of identified reading intervention data.

• Assists with the creation and implementation of school procedures and guidelines to provide schools with steps for student identification, data interpretation, assessment, analysis, and scheduling of students.

• Assists with the implementation of the School improvement Plan.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.



The Mount Clemens Community School District is currently in the process of installing the Blueprint for systemic reconfiguration that purposefully disrupts current practice to create a new structure of coherent, aligned district and building systems to ensure success for all students. • the ability and desire to design and utilize formative assessments to modify and adjust instruction on a daily basis;

• the skill to implement a tiered system of instruction within the classroom to meet the needs of all students;

• the ability to help create and thrive in a professional environment that is one of mutual respect, teamwork, and accountability;

• the ability to seek out knowledgeable peers, coaches or administrators for instructional support in the never ending quest to deliver the vision of high quality subject-specific instruction in every class period every day;
