Position Details: 





General Summary

Under the direction of the executive administrative assistant, Michigan Assessment Consortium (MAC) is seeking an outstanding individual for the position of Administrative Assistant.


The Administrative Assistant is responsible for support of association events, activities and project specific work.

Key Performance Indicators


  • Bachelor or Associate degree preferred in a relevant field.
  • Experience in a professional office setting preferred or at least one year of experience in a similar role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive) Adobe Acrobat.  Excellent organizational skills to develop and maintain procedures and operations.
  • Ability to integrate information from multiple sources, analyze information and problem-solve to create a final document or report.
  • Adhere to compliance with applicable rules and regulations set in bylaws regarding MAC Board and board committee matters.
  • Ability to represent the MAC in a professional, competent manner.
  • Familiarity with website maintenance (preferred) or ability to learn.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and proficiency with graphic design/layout skills are desirable.

Specified Duties/Responsibilities

  1. Assists the Executive Assistant in providing coordination and support for meetings, events, project events and board work.
  2. Assists in maintenance of the MAC and project websites: loading, proofing, tagging, updating calendar, etc.
  3. Proofs, edits and formats documents including but not limited to: e-newsletters, agendas, project plans, action plans, white papers, articles, brochures and flyers.
  4. Assists with maintenance of MAC, Inc. membership and partners through recordkeeping and communication.
  5. Assists with providing technical support for virtual meetings and webinars.
  6. Assists with preparation of reports, documents, presentations and other detailed materials using a variety of software packages, including: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Adobe, Acrobat, Survey Monkey, MailChimp
  7. Independently handles routine administrative details, correspondence, and email inquiries on organizational matters.
  8. Participates in virtual and face-to-face project team meetings as needed
  9. Performs other duties as assigned, including support of MAC projects. For example, 2018-19 Michigan Arts Education Instruction and Assessment (MAEIA) Project, Formative Assessment for Michigan Educators (FAME), Early Literacy Assessment System (ELAS).

Working Conditions

The MAC offers a modern, comfortable, professional office environment.  Physical demands are minimal but do include long periods at the computer keyboard, some lifting.  In-state travel may include conferences and workshops. This position is for 20 hours per week, scheduled to be determined jointly with supervisor. Regular office hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. This is a one-year appointment of 48 weeks, informed by MAC holiday calendar, with the opportunity for continuation after one year.  Probationary reviews will occur at 30 and 90days.
