Position Details: 

The primary role of an instructional coach is to positively impact student achievement by providing coaching, training, and support in the implementation of a systemic approach to quality curriculum, instruction, and assessment for collaborative teams and individual educators.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a current Michigan Teaching Certificate.  Secondary certification preferred.
  • Must possess a Master’s degree in education.
  • Minimum of five years classroom experience.  Experience with at-risk students, including economically disadvantaged students and English learners preferred.
  • Prior coaching experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of the MI-Excel Blueprint and the Understanding by Design model preferred.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate to support the implementation of the district’s instructional infrastructure.
  • Plan and facilitate training for teachers and support staff.
  • Analyze and interpret data to effectively problem solve and action plan.  This includes assisting in the collection of data, its analysis and its use to inform instructional decisions both in the classroom and at the school and district level in order to improve student achievement.
  • Establish positive and productive professional relationships with all constituents.
  • Effectively use oral and written communication with individuals and groups.
  • Design and facilitate collaborative, job-embedded, standards-based professional learning opportunities aligned with the district’s instructional infrastructure.
  • Provide coaching support for teachers to implement the district’s instructional infrastructure and support data conferencing with individual teachers, teacher teams and administrators.
  • Provide leadership in the area of instructional best practices.
  • Expand teachers’ use of a variety of strategies and resources to improve instruction.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of formative and summative assessments.
  • Model continuous learning and the use of best practice for educational improvement.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
