POSITION:  Assistant Principal, Huron Area Technical Center / Work-Based Learning Coordinator

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:   

  1. Master’s Degree in Education Leadership or Administration
  2. Current Administrative Certification or able to obtain
  3. CTE Experience or Vocational Certification preferred
  4. Minimum 3-years administrative experience preferred
  5. Minimum 3-years teaching experience preferred

  • Experienced in best instructional practices and able to communicate these with staff
  • High moral character and regular in-person attendance required
  • The employee regularly uses a computer and may be required to lift and/or push up to 50 lbs.
  • Applicants who receive a conditional offer of employment for a position with HISD/HATC will be required to successfully complete a background check

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Responsible for daily operation of the Huron Area Technical Center (HATC) including monitoring of student conduct, driving, hallways, parking lots, etc.
  • Oversee student and staff needs in the areas of safety, attendance, discipline, first aid, and parent contacts
  • Cooperate with the Principal/CTE Director to ensure maximum and efficient use of the HATC facility
  • Implement and maintain proper equipment and supply inventories for each CTE program
  • Handle student disciplinary issues following the HATC Code of Conduct and in cooperation with the Principal/CTE Director including contacts with parents and home school
  • Evaluate Instructional and Support Staff
  • Serve as the HISD McKinney-Vento Coordinator
  • Coordinate Work-Based Learning
  • Monitor and administer student attendance policy and guidelines
  • Coordinate year end check-out procedure
  • Participate in the development of CTE budgets
  • Participate in CTE advisory board meetings
  • Coordinate enrollment of students into HATC programs
  • Develop business contacts and place students in work settings
  • Maintain current knowledge of Child Labor Laws and OSHA
  • Coach staff in best teaching practices
  • Partner with local businesses to determine program needs
  • Participate in IEP process and communicate accommodations/modifications necessary to staff
  • Work with local districts to ensure student access to CTE, LCAN, Dual-Enrollment, and other secondary and post-secondary programs
  • Coordinator of Odysseyware and other online learning opportunities
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal/CTE Director      

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:       210-day position

                                                     8 hours per day

                                                      Wage and benefits per administrative contract
