Position Details: 

Qualifications:

1) Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree preferred and/or applicable experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) field.

2) Experience leading a competitive FIRST Robotics team or an equivalent robotics program.
 
3) Highly effective communication and organizational skills.
 
4) Knowledge of effective fundraising practices and relevant laws.

5) Pass background checks as required by the FIRST Robotics program, the State of Michigan, and L’Anse Creuse Public Schools.
 
6) Ability to mentor and support high-school aged students in a safe, yet fun and competitive co-curricular activity.
 
7) Must be able to teach and enforce standards of safety when using hand and power tools.

Duties/Responsibilities:

1) Organize and monitor the 2019-2020 high school FIRST Robotics team through off-season preparation club meetings and in-season build/competition.

2) Act as liaison between team members, mentors, parents and volunteers; effectively communicate expectations of team members and organize the assistance of parent volunteers and mentors.

3) Develop partnerships with local businesses to assist with sponsorship and mentorship of team.

4) Promote and recruit a LCPS FIRST Robotics Team annually.
 
5) Organize transportation for students to  competitions.
 
6) Attend FIRST training sessions as available.
 
7) Nurture a sense of team ownership among team members for the team’s robot, project, and core values. 

8) Teach and nurture the spirit of “co-opertition” as outlined by FIRST.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
