TITLE: Teacher     

QUALIFICATIONS:   

  • Endorsement in Early Childhood Education
  • Endorsement in Special Education
  • Such alternatives to the above qualification as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable  

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education/Director of Early Childhood Programs   

SUPERVISES: Not Applicable  

JOB GOAL:   To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and psychological growth and maturation.   

 ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  1. Plans and prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.
  2. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved, and the physical limitations of the location provided.
  3. Provide students with specialized instruction based on their unique needs resulting from their identified disabilities.
  4. Familiar with State Preschool Assessments
  5. Monitors individual students progress utilizing data that reflects student performance eon his or her IEP goals; adjusts instruction as needed based on analysis of the data.
  6. Collaborates and schedules IEP meetings
  7. Collaborates with support services such as speech and language and social work. 8
  8. Acts as a case manager for assigned students.
  9. Understand and relate to students with special needs assuring the proper implementation of educational programs including designing and implementing appropriate behavior management techniques for use in instructional and disciplinary purposes.
  10. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with parents and other service providers.
  11. Establishes and maintains a safe, orderly and child centered classroom environment. 
  12. Performs such other task and assumes such other responsibilities as the Building Principal may assign. 

 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:     In accordance with the negotiated contract.   

EVALUATION:    Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the building principal or appropriate administrator.
