POSITION:                Business Manger

WORK YEAR:           52 week / year contract

REPORTS TO:          Superintendent of Schools



Laingsburg Community Schools is seeking a Business Manger who can work as part of a close-knit administrative team, would be a supportive leader to an excellent staff, has strong relationship skills, and one who can help lead and coordinate our Food Service, Pupil Accounting and State Reporting efforts.    ​


  1. Degree in accounting/finance/business.
  2. Experience in accounts payable and purchasing within a K-12 public school district.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively with staff and community in all written and oral communications.
  4. Experience with the School Nutrition Program preferred, food service experience desired.
  5. Knowledge of the Michigan Pupil Accounting standards.
  6. Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
  8. Must pass a background check and possess all legally required certifications.

SUPERVISES: Central office personnel and all food service staff  ​

JOB GOAL: To use your leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills to accomplish the goals of Laingsburg Community Schools.


  1. Perform all duties of business manager as required by district and State of Michigan.
  2. Assist in supervising the financial affairs of the District.
  3. Assist in developing current budget consistent with Board Policy.
  4. Assist in assembling long-range financial data.
  5. Establish and supervise a program of accounting adequate to detail all money and credit transactions.
  6. Supervise all accounting operations.
  7. Supervise personnel functions including payroll, payroll deductions, and employee benefit programs.
  8. Assist in administering a budget control/reporting system consistent with Board Policy.
  9. Facilitate required audit of District’s fiscal activity.
  10. Supervise the receipt and expenditure of District funds.
  11. Provide timely reporting of income and expenditure for all funds.
  12. Supervise timely reporting of income and expenditures for all funds.
  13. Serve the Board as a member of the district negotiating team.
  14. Supervise reporting of workers’ compensation claims and unemployment claims.
  15. Responsible for filing reports on a timely basis with the Michigan Department of Education including Pupil Accounting reports and School Nutrition Program reports.
  16. Assist the Superintendent with other matters as requested. 



  1. Multi-year contract with an October 1, 2019 start date – but negotiable 
  2. Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000
