TITLE:          English Language Learners (ELL) Intervention Specialist    

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate Preferred but not required.
  • ESL endorsement is preferred.
  • Ability to work with ELL students.
  • Must be able to drive to various buildings in the district. (Valid Driver’s License)
  • Demonstrated ability to break concepts down to child’s level of understanding.
  • Demonstrated ability using technology.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

REPORTS TO:       District Title III Coordinator

SUPERVISES:        Students

JOB GOAL:           To support ELL students by providing them support in academic areas.

 ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Meets regularly with classroom teachers to determine students’ level of need.
  2. Prepares learning plans for students.
  3. Keeps track of students’ progress.
  4. Uses a variety of strategies to help students develop English Language Proficiency
  5. Support students in core academic classes
  6. Meets regularly with Title III Coordinator.
  7. May assists with ELL screening of new students.
  8. Assists with World Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) testing at Richards Middle School.
  9. Communicate with parents regarding students’ academic progress
  10. Other duties as assigned by the Title III Coordinator

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  School year as determined by Administration.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the District Title III Coordinator.
