Early Learning Center Principal (Grades K-1)

Internal & External Candidates Accepted - Location: North Early Learning Center
Immediate Supervisor:  TPS Superintendent

 

Required Qualifications:

 

Education/Experience

  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate
  • Currently holds, or working to obtain, a valid administrator certificate
  • Master’s degree in administration or educational leadership is preferred
  • Early Childhood background preferred
  • Successful teaching and leadership experience and familiarity with Customized Learning concepts
  • Demonstrated skills in the use of technology

 

Interpersonal

  • Ability to communicate effectively and dynamically in writing and orally with all levels of management, staff, parents, community leaders, and learners
  • Ability and willingness to work in a team setting as a team player
  • Strong, proven work ethic with demonstrated honesty and integrity
  • Proven motivator with strong leadership skills
  • Proven learner focused beliefs and philosophy
  • Alignment to the Mission and Vision of Tecumseh Public Schools.

 

Professional

  • Demonstrated commitment to training and development
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the challenges and issues facing public education
  • Demonstrated understanding and skills relating to technology and instructional improvement
  • Demonstrated successful experience in developing and implementing activities for/with students
  • Understanding of and support for at-risk/special needs populations

 

 

General Information/Duties:

  • Implement and be responsible for the enforcement of student discipline policies and procedures
  • Work with staff in implementing the curriculum at the building level in keeping with the broader school district program
  • Propose, design and implement, with staff, innovative programs focused on improved student learning
  • Assist in the planning, implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of the curriculum, including extracurricular activities
  • Evaluate staff performance
  • Works to maintain a safe and orderly environment
  • Promote communication and mutual understanding between staff, parents, learners and the community as directed by the high school principal
  • Promote a school environment which is conducive to learning for each and every learner
  • Carry out Board policies and administrative procedures
  • Serve as the catalyst for positive learner-oriented change
  • Have a thorough understanding of Section #504 Accommodations
  • Have a thorough understanding of the I.E.P. process, including the writing of behavior plans
  • Attend special events held to recognize learner achievement, and attend school-sponsored activities, functions, and athletic events
  • Participate in all meetings as required or appropriate
  • Serve as a leader and a model of leadership to others
  • Be responsible for other duties as assigned by the superintendent
