TITLE:                       Teacher Consultant - Fraser High School

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. The candidate must be highly qualified in the area of Mathematics.
  2. The candidate must hold a valid Michigan teaching certificate showing a special education endorsement in the category in which the teacher consultant approval is requested. The special education endorsement must be in one of the following areas; learning disabilities, emotional impairment, cognitive impairment, physical and other health impairment and Autism.
  3. The candidate must provide documentation of an earned Master's degree in education of a field of study related to special education.
  4. The candidate must have completed a minimum of 3 years of satisfactory teaching experience, not less than 2 years of which shall be teaching students with a disability in a special education classroom.

 

 

REPORTS TO:        Building Principal

 

SUPERVISES:         Students

 

JOB GOAL:              To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual,                                          emotional, physical and psychological growth and maturation.

 

 

ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. As a part of the full time employment the person assigned this responsibility would be designated as a Teacher Consultant (60%) and Resource Room teacher (40%).
  2. Serve as a team member providing diagnostic and programming expertise and contributing to the identification of and program elements for special education students.
  3. Develop and implement individual education plans for each student.
  4. Provide a basic skills math program for special education students.
  5. Work cooperatively with general education classroom teachers who have students with special education needs in general education classes to ensure the implementation of accommodations and modifications for the classroom and state wide assessments, interpreting the abilities and disabilities of these students to the staff.
  6. Confer with parents and professional staff members regarding the educational, social, and personal problems of each student.
  7. Assist and advise students with educational, vocational and personal issues.
  8. Assist students in making realistic assessments of their abilities and in establishing educational and vocational goals in keeping with these abilities.
  9. Implement and maintain valid monitoring of social and academic progress.
  10. Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities the Director of Special Education & Building Principal may assign.
